USE A SURGE PROTECTOR! This almost comes up as high as the BACK-UP tip as it can save you YOUR WHOLE SYSTEM and more importantly a lot of money and your data.
Surge´s are surprisingly common in Spain and repair cost have been previously as high as 400€ plus on some systems affected by surges and worst still can cause COMPLETE DATA LOSS. There are two types of surges protectors. One´s that work, and one´s that just claim to work.
It is easy to tell the difference, the good one´s are insured normally for more than 5,000€.
The other surge protectors (non-insured) are to be treated as just extension sockets. |
